Marjorie Rose George

December 21, 1927 — August 20, 2025

Kansas City, Missouri

Marjorie Rose George, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 97. Born on December 21, 1927, in Louisburg, Kansas, Marjorie lived a long and fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and deep devotion to her family and faith.

Marjorie was a remarkable woman who began her career as a Registered Nurse before dedicating herself wholeheartedly to her family as a devoted homemaker. Her nurturing spirit and kind heart were the cornerstones of her life, as she created a warm and loving environment for her children and grandchildren. Marjorie's unwavering faith as a devout Catholic guided her through all of life's joys and challenges, leaving an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to know her.

Family was everything to Marjorie. She is survived by her loving daughters, Audrey Semke and Kathy Bexten, her son, Dan George and wife Cindy, her cherished sister and best friend, Rita Thomas, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Jason Semke, Justin Semke, TJ Semke, Mikayla (Jake) Lowman, Makenzie Bexten, Alison Semke, JR Semke, Daniella Semke, Jaxon Lowman, and Avery Lowman.

Her life was filled with many joyful moments, from cheering on her beloved Chiefs and Royals, watching her favorite game shows every day, playing bingo with friends to solving and creating puzzles with her grandkids. She had a particular fondness for the color purple and had a taste for Mexican food, with a favorite meal that included cheese dip, chips, and a margarita. Marjorie loved to travel across the country with her beloved husband, Richard, in their RV, where they created countless memories together--particularly enjoying their winters camping in Texas.

Marjorie's enduring love story with Richard, who preceded her in death, spanned 68 wonderful years, and it was the pride of her life. Together, they built a legacy of love exemplified by their family, who will forever cherish the values instilled in them by this remarkable couple. Marjorie's family mourns the loss of their matriarch but find comfort in the memories of her wit, wisdom, and incredible spirit.

She is also preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret (Peuser) Knecht; her son, Michael George; her son, Rick George; and her brothers, Joe, Gene, George, and Clarence Knecht, as well as her sister, Mary Wheeler. They, along with the love of her life, Richard, will be waiting with open arms to welcome her home.

A visitation will be held on August 26, 2025, at 9:00am, followed by a Rosary at 9:45am at Christ the King Catholic Church, located at 8510 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64114. Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM to celebrate Marjorie's long, special life.
