Marie E. Bellante

Marie E. Bellante, 94, of Kansas City, MO, went home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2018. A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 29th, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., at Saint Thomas More Church, 11822 Holmes Rd., KCMO 64131. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Catholic Community Hospice.
Marie was born, in Kansas City, MO, to Giovanni Battista Blando and Maria Balistreri. She attended Francis Willard elementary school, Paseo High School, and Kansas City Business College. She married Joseph Charles Bellante on April 24, 1944, when he was home on furlough during World War II.
She stayed home and raised her 4 daughters. She worked at Rockhurst College Athletic Department, Superior Wines and Liquors and was very active in her senior group SPARK. Marie had a passion for the fine arts including the Opera, Ballet, and Nelson Art Gallery. She enjoyed her herb garden as well as crocheting, reading and playing cards. Marie and Joe enjoyed vacationing at the Lake of the Ozarks and Estes Park, Colorado.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Joe, her brother and sister-in-law, Emanuel and Pat Blando, as well as great granddaughter, Cora Pope. Survivors include sister Grace Blando, daughters, Elizabeth Spalitto (Dr.Joseph), Mary Jo McNerney (John), Grace Bellante Overcash, Anita Janner (Frank); grandchildren, Dr.Pete Spalitto (Susan), Dr. Gina Petelin (Nick), Maria Knowles (Rick), Angela Hunt (Kevin), Michael McNerney (Erica), Monica Korba (Ted), Joseph Janner, Nicholas Janner (Ita), Christina Pope (Evan), Major Steven Janner, USAF; 26 great grandchildren.
