Margaret Ann Barker

July 16, 1921 — January 16, 2020

Margaret Barker lived a life where she never knew a stranger. She created community wherever she was whether in the PTA, at church, in Florida where she loved to spend the winters, or later in her senior living complex. As a young family, her husband, Jack, often traveled for work and Margaret became a champion household manager while raising their 5 children (all born in 6 years!). Each Christmas, she helped Jack transform into one of Santa's helpers, much to the delight of the neighborhood and eventually their grandchildren. She had a clever sense of humor and loved to tease, but the very best was getting her to smile and exclaim "Oh boy!" at a bad joke or "simmer down" when her family got a little too rowdy. She loved reading and writing -- she even interviewed Ronald Reagan when he was still an actor for her high school year book. When Jack passed after 51 years of marriage, she continued to live an independent life until her early 90s, not even letting macular degeneration slow her down. She loved her family and was loved deeply in return.

Margaret's family will miss her intensely and includes a sister, Betty Rooney, her children Barbara and Ron Sidebottom (deceased), Peggy Barker, John (deceased) and Trudy Barker, Jeanne and John Driscoll (deceased), Susie and Wolfe Gerecht; her grandchildren Tracy and JR Esquivel, Carrie and Terry Ingraham, Krista Wilson, Kelly and TJ Cingrani, Ryan and Heather Gerecht and Katelyn and Bryan Kaproth-Gerecht; and her great grandchildren Kaden, Mason and Everett Esquivel, Parker Wilson, Lillian, Clara and Willa Gerecht. She is also preceded by her husband Jack Barker, parents Edwin and Irene Forrer and sisters Helen Barrett, Katie Doyle, Jeanne Ingram.
