Marcella M. Smith

Marcella M. Smith, 95, of Mission, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She was born on May 21, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Walter H. Moegelin and Dorothy (Bittner) Moegelin. Marcella has one sister, LaVerne Colombo, of Cleveland, Ohio.On October 1, 1960, Marcella married David T. Smith in Leawood, KS. She worked for the University of Missouri-Kansas City, College of Arts & Sciences in the Dean's Office as the Director of Business Affairs. She retired from UMKC in May 5, 1981 and spent a lot of her time traveling, reading, solving crossword puzzles, and spending time with friends and family. Marcella is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorothy, son, Robert, and husband, David T. Smith. She is survived by her two daughters, Jana Harris and husband Richard, Karen Hoffman. She leaves her grandchildren, William Cole Hoffman, Haley Nicole Hoffman, Traci L. Carnoali and husband Jon, and Sheri Cochran; great grandchildren, Zachary, Alexandria, Terra, Nikki; and a great-great grandson, Braylon. Marcella will be missed very much by all of her loving family.
