Luis Eduardo Velasquez passed away on Sunday, December 17th, 2023 surrounded by his family. Luis is also preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Cristina.

For sixty-seven years, Luis was married to Magdalena. Together, they moved to Kansas City, Missouri where they worked hard to build a new life for their family. For the next fifty years, they created a loving home for their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Luis was proud of his Ecuadorian heritage and his adopted Kansas City home.

Luis worked in elevator repair and installation for Westinghouse, Otis and Schindler where he was a life-long member of the National Elevator Industry and Local 12 while Magdalena worked as a seamstress. A kind and loving father, Luis was a gentle soul who enjoyed being surrounded by family and appreciated Magdalena's wonderful cooking. When the family gathered for Christmas, Luis delighted in the noise and hubbub of his happy family.

Stephen Velasquez, his sons-in-law, Peter Furey and Brian Killeen, his daughter-in-law, Rachel Riedner, and Ann Svoboda.
