Linus E. Goth, Jr., 84, passed away April 15, 2022. Linus was born February 5, 1938 in Albany, GA to Linus E. Sr., and Esther (Richter) Goth. He attended De LaSalle High School, Donnelly College and received his bachelors degree in accounting from Rockhurst College in 1962. Linus served in the US Army Reserves. He worked as a Computer Systems Analyst for Western Electric/Lucent/AT&T for 35 years, retiring in 1997.
Linus was a long-time active member of St. Catherine of Siena Church serving as Altar Server and Eucharistic Minister, member of Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and Scout Leader. Linus was also involved in his childrens activities at St. Catherine/Our Lady of Peace as soccer and volleyball coach. After his retirement, he was active in Telephone Pioneers and CHARM as newsletter publisher and editor. He loved to spend his free time fishing, bowling, golfing, working on his Shopsmith and attending his grandkids activities.
Linus was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret A. "Peggy" Goth; children, Susan L. Melenson (Terry), Kenneth E. Goth (Marsha) and Kristine G. Pace (Frank); sister, Catherine A. Nash; four grandchildren, Eric, Kelsie, Michael and Charlie.
The rosary will be prayed at 9:30am, Thursday, April 21st at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 4101 E. 105th Terr, Kansas City, MO followed by visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Catherine of Siena Church, The American Heart Association or Telephone Pioneers.
