Linda Jean Jeffries was born on September 18, 1942 and passed away peacefully on January 27, 2024.  She was 81 years old when her Father God called her home.

Linda was born in Johnson City, New York. When she was young she moved to Springfield, Missouri where she lived most of her life. She had a thriving real estate career of over 20 years. She moved to Kansas City in 2009 after her fifth grandchild was born as she wanted to be closer to her family.  She was lovingly known to her grandkids as “Deda,” a nickname that was given to her by her first grandchild who couldn’t say the word Grandma.

Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her family. She was so proud of her kids and grandkids and was happy to support them in all they did. From watching tennis matches, to basketball games, school plays, May Day celebrations and graduations. She loved it all.

Linda was very involved in her work for the Salvation Army.  She served for over 5 years as part of the Southland Corps in which she was part of the monthly commodities, bell ringing, and the Angel Tree program.  Most recently she was on the Executive Board of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and presided as Membership Chairperson.

Linda was an avid gardener and loved being outdoors where she planted the most beautiful flowers. She loved spending time with her friends and hosted a weekly gathering every Friday.  They chatted and played games, and enjoyed her beautiful backyard, and prayed for one another as needed.  It was a time she cherished.

If someone needed a place to meet of to throw an event, she was the first to say yes.  She called her home the “party house!”

Linda loved the Lord with all her heart and was deeply committed to her church, Christ Community-Brookside Campus. For many years, she volunteered as a greeter and served communion. She was active in her church community group and hosted their meetings at her home on a regular basis.

Linda is survived by her three children and five grandchildren. Her son James Albert Jeffries of Dallas, Texas. Her Daughter Melissa Lynn Kotre and Melissa’s  spouse, John Kotre, Jr. of Overland Park, Kansas. Her daughter Christena Ann Gautreaux and Christy’s spouse Bill Gautreaux of Kansas City, Missouri. Linda’s grandchildren, Harrison James Kotre, Adrianna Audrey Gautreaux, Hudson Bush Kotre, Estella Marie Gautreaux, and Elle Marie Kotre. Linda is also survived by her brother, Dennis Anglin of St. Louis, Missouri. Linda is preceded in death by her late husband James Robert Jeffries, her parents, Everett Anglin and Myra Anglin, and her in-laws James Albert Jeffries and Audrey Pierce Jeffries.
