Leota J. Meyers, 87, of Overland Park, KS, passed away October 13, 2017. A visitation will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO, from 5:30-6:30 on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 followed by a memorial service at 6:30. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Leota was born February 3, 1930, in Jefferson City, MO, to Otis & Abigail Durham. She attended William Woods College prior to graduating from the University of Missouri with a degree in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was a lifelong MU fan. Leota enjoyed traveling and her home was filled with treasures she collected from all over the world. She was also an avid coin and stamp collector, as well as a serious bowler. Her grandchildren will remember her as a fan of lottery scratch off tickets and will fondly recall time spent with her in this activity.
Leota was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Vincent Meyers. She is survived by her son, Ryan Meyers and wife Margaret, stepsons, Bobby Meyers and wife Dolly and Bo Meyers, as well as her grandchildren; Alex Meyers and Jake Meyers, and her step-grandchildren Marina Meyers and Matthew Meyers-Wright. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Asana Hospice, 9001 State Line Rd., Ste. 120, Kansas City, MO 64114.
