Lawrence Anthony Byrne

April 11, 1969 — January 1, 2016

Beloved Byrne brother, age 46, passed away on January 1, 2016. Born and raised in Kansas City, MO and named after his father Lawrence, a Purple Heart Marine who survived the battle of Iwo Jima, Larry also exemplified the same spirit of courage, honor and faithfulness. Larry was an awesome salesman and a partner with two of his brothers and many others at Arizona Benefit Consultants, a leading employee benefits consulting firm in Arizona. His kind heart and contagious smile warmed the lives of many he touched along the way. Larry loved hiking, particularly Pinnacle Peak Mountain and the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim trail. In spite of battling a mental disorder for most of his adult life, Larry went on to accomplish many amazing feats. He fought the good fight of Faith and he will be remembered for the love, joy and kindness he shared with all those who knew him. He attended Christ the King School and O'Hara High School in Kansas City, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Benedictine College in Atchison, KS. One of 50 first cousins who descended from the union of the Byrne and Effertz family, Larry is preceded in death by his nephew, Paul Gerard Ismert, his father, Lawrence Benedict Byrne, his nephew, David Lawrence Byrne, his sister, Mary Therese Ismert and his mother, Rose Marie Byrne. He is survived by his sister, Rosemary R. Stoermann (Bob) and his 3 brothers, Edmund S. Byrne, Shawn G. Byrne (Susan) and Blaise J. Byrne. He leaves 13 aunts and uncles, 38 first cousins and 17 nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass for Larry will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 3:30 pm at Christ the King Church, 8510 Wornall Rd., KCMO. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 5025 E Washington Ave., Suite 112, Phoenix, AZ 85034. www.namiaz.org.
