Kevin Leigh Lane

Kevin Leigh Lane, 52, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on May 10, 2025. Born on July 7, 1972, in Emporia, Kansas, Kevin lived a life defined by creativity, curiosity, and compassion.

A graduate of Washburn University, Kevin went on to earn a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Marketing from The University of Texas at Austin’s Red McCombs School of Business. His professional journey was marked by innovation and leadership. Over the past two decades, he built a career as an entrepreneur and executive at leading advertising and communications companies.

Deeply passionate about architecture and design, Kevin restored several properties and received two honors on the National Register of Historic Places. His commitment to preserving beauty and history was reflected in his 14 years of service on the board of the Palm Springs Preservation Foundation and four years with the Los Angeles Conservancy. He was also involved with organizations including The Sea Ranch Association, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art, the Palm Springs Art Museum, and the Palm Springs Modern Committee.

Kevin gave generously of his time and heart, volunteering with the Laura Conyers Smith Municipal Rose Garden and the Kansas City Pet Resource Project. He found joy in cooking, hiking, and caring for his beloved dogs.

He traveled the world with a deep sense of adventure and wonder—nurtured by his love of music, art, design, great food, and meaningful conversation. Kevin’s family and friends will forever cherish his humor and full-bodied laugh, playfulness, and kind heart.

Kevin is lovingly remembered by his parents, Gary and Judy Lane; his sisters, Michelle (Todd) Henricks and Kristi (Drew) Heintzelman; his nieces and nephews: Victoria, Alexandra, Garrison, Isabella, Gage, Eve, and Reid; and his partner Jim Breckenridge. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Alice (Lane) Black and Bill and Hazle Hodges.

A private service will be held by the family, and a celebration of Kevin’s life will take place at a later date.

Kevin’s legacy lives on in the places he helped preserve, the people he inspired, and the joy he shared with all who knew him.
