Kathleen “Kathy” Louise (McCormack) Grantham, passed away on September 17, 2026, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, after quietly fighting a hard battle with lung cancer. She was 65 years old. Born on August 17, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, Kathy will be remembered fondly for her warmth, strength, and humor she brought to those around her.

Kathy loved being a wife, mother, homemaker, Catholic woman of faith, and she poured herself into those roles with devotion. She could be stubborn, but she was also so loving, incredibly tough, and blessed with a great sense of humor. Those who knew her will remember the comfort of her presence, the laughter she shared so easily, and the way she made home feel special.

She enjoyed reading and found joy in life’s simple pleasures, but most of all she loved cheering on her favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, which you could often hear her yelling at the TV in both support and criticism. Kathy was also known as a wonderful cook and a great baker, sharing that care and generosity with family and friends. Her loved ones will always smile at the memory of her famous tagline, “my jammies are callin’ me,” when she was tired and done for the day—a phrase that captured her humor and the familiar, endearing way she moved through daily life.

Kathy is survived by her son, Matthew Grantham. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Amy Waris and her husband Tim, Mary Kanatzar and her husband Kerry, Barbara Goldstein and her husband Kevin, and Tina Seeger and her husband Mark; and by her brothers, Steve McCormack, Tom McCormack and his wife Becky, and Jim McCormack and his wife Tamara. She leaves behind other extended family and dear friends who will carry her memory forward with love, gratitude, and countless cherished stories.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 17 years, Dennis Grantham; her parents, James and Mary Lou (Dalton) McCormack; her sister, Terry Wolf; and her brother, John McCormack. Their memories remained part of her life and story, and now she is reunited with those who went before her.

Visitation will be held at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO 64138, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, with Visitation at 10:00 a.m., the Rosary prayed at 10:45am, and Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Kathy will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered for her toughness, her humor, her generous heart, and the love she gave so freely to her family.
