Kathleen C. Effertz

Kathleen "Kathi/Crystal" Effertz, 74, passed peacefully from this life on December 1, 2018 lovingly surrounded by her family. Kathi was born on February 14, 1944 in Kansas City, MO to Thomas "Frank" and Catherine Dunn.
Kathi attended St. Catherine of Siena elementary school in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Bishop Hogan High School in 1961 where she met and married the late Thomas Haggerty. Together, they devotedly raised four children.
Kathi loved hosting parties, making everyone feel welcome. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, especially over the holidays. She was a loyal Chiefs football fan and provided expert analysis after each game. She enjoyed listening to classic country music, playing cards with her husband Joe, and traveling with him to Lake of the Ozarks, Bahamas, and Florida. Family meant everything to Kathi. She took great pride in her grandchildren and in participating in their activities.
Kathi was preceded in death by her parents and brother Jerry Dunn. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Joe Effertz; brothers: Tom (Monica) and Mike Dunn (Terri); sisters: Mary Ann Brown (Spencer) and Martha Poduch (Bob); children: Mike (Marilyn), Bridget, John (Felice), Matt (Mary); stepchildren: Joe, Jeannie (Stuart), Susie, Steve; twenty grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 12-1:30 pm Thursday, December 6th at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131. Mass of Christian Burial will 1:30 pm followed by a reception in the church hall. Memorial donations may be made to either Little Sisters of the Poor, Kansas City, MO or St. Thomas More Church.
