Joseph William Gardner

Joseph William Gardner, 71, of Kansas City, MO, passed away April 11, 2023. Joseph was born August 16, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, his home throughout life.

Joe never married but counted many friends. He maintained close connections with neighborhood childhood friends. He regularly kept in contact with beloved classmates from his 1966 graduating class of St. Elizabeth’s Grade School, as well as the the class of 1969 from Bishop Hogan High School.

In 1982, Joe was honored as the employee of the year for Gilbert/Robertson, Inc. Most recently, he continued to work part-time for Walgreen Pharmacy after retirement in 2017. Joe served as an usher for St. Catherine of Siena Parish for many years until Covid‘s interruption.

Joe enjoyed following the Chiefs, Royals, and MU Tigers. He supported the efforts of Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter in Kansas City. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting and fishing. With his brothers and nephews, Joe made memorable fishing trips to Canada, leaving a wake of misadventures and laughs.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Linus J. & Leone I. Gardner, and his kind brother Gerald F. Gardner. Survivors include his brother Michael J. Gardner, nephews Matthew D. Gardner and Andrew J. Gardner, niece A. Colleen Bedwell, four grandnieces and four grandnephews.
