John R. Couture, Sr.

John R. Couture, Sr., age 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, died peacefully March 10, 2018. The Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., at St. Francis Xavier Church, 1001 E. 52nd St., Kansas City, Missouri 64110, followed by a Celebration of Life Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24th. Private inurnment at a later date.John was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Elvera (Niehues) Couture, and stepmother Letha. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joanne; daughter Amy Couture; son John Jr. and wife Heather; beloved grandchildren, Leo, Kate, Bridget and Gretchen; sister Elaine Wright; nieces Melissa and Jessica; as well as many dear cousins and friends.John graduated from Rockhurst High School and University, along with UMKC with an MA in Economics. He taught business at Donnelly College for 29 years. John loved being with his family, playing banjo and guitar, fly-fishing, Saturday breakfasts at HyVee with "the Old Farts Club," and visiting his beloved cousins in Oklahoma.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Francis Xavier Church and St. Luke's Hospice, 4225 Baltimore Avenue, Kansas City, Missouri 64111.
