John Caskie Collet, Jr.

John Collet, 88, lost his battle with Alzheimers on May 15, 2021. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Country Club Christian Church Chapel. Immediately following the service there will be a small reception where family will greet friends. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
John was born on April 22, 1933 to John Caskie Collet, Sr. and Hazel Bosworth. John leaves his wife of 35 years JoAnn Collet and 4 adult children Elizabeth Funk, Caskie Collet, Todd Berdit and Brooke McBride as well as 7 grandchildren. Johns two nephews Bill Collet and Jim Collet were like sons to him. John was first and foremost a man of God. Johns time was divided among relationships with his family, friends, the golf course, duck hunting, the trout stream and Bible studies. He was a native of Missouri. He earned a BS degree from the University of Missouri, and an MBA from Harvard University.
He was an entrepreneur and philanthropist, always giving of his time treasures and talents to help his family, friends and community. John retired from a variety of business interests. He was the Chairman of Collet Ventures and Chairman and President of Rupert Manufacturing Company. Some past financial involvements include a directorship and stockholder of Sigma Chapman Co., Weld Wheel Company, Newell Coach Company, and Omnipure, Inc.
Past business directorships include Price Candy Company, Grand Avenue Bank (United Missouri Bank) First Federal Savings & Loan, and the Kiger Company. John had a lengthy string of past civic and government activities: Past International President, Young Presidents Organization (Past International President), Past Chairman (appointed by President Ford and re-appointed by President Carter), Presidents Commission for Executive Exchange Past Chairman, Past Director, Kansas City Civic Council, Past Trustee, Midwest Research Institute, Past Director, Midwest Research Institute Ventures, Past Chair, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Kansas City, Past Board Member, Salvation Army, Past Consultant, U S Department of Transportation, Past Director, Center for Business Innovation, Past Member of Central Governing Board, Childrens Mercy Hospital, Past Trustee, Drury College, Past Trustee, Public School Retirement System of Kansas City, Past Trustee, Ottawa University, and finally Past Advisory Council, Nature Conservancy.
