'Joey' Joseph Gerald Cowan

Joseph Gerald Cowan, born November 28, 1960, died April 24, 2018. Joey, as his caregivers and housemates knew him, brought joy and laughter wherever he went. He was known for his love of football, especially the KC Chiefs and the Dallas Cowboys. But, once football season was over he followed basketball and baseballhis favorites were always the hometown teams.Joey was born in Bakersfield, California, to Ruth (dec) and John Cowan (dec). He was the youngest child of their six children (Mary, Bridget, Margaret, John, and Sheila). Joey will be especially missed by his housemates at Preferred Family Healthcare (formerly CGS), his caregivers, various group leaders and others who had the chance to help him in any way. His joyous spirit filled the room, his cheerful greeting made everyone feel included and expectant for some wonderful event about to happen.Joey left a legacy to be proud of and although he will be greatly missed, he will be remembered with great love.The funeral will be held at St. John Francis Regis Parish Church at 10am, Friday, May 18, 2018, 8941 James A. Reed Rd., KCMO. Remembrances may be sent to the Parish Ministry team at the church.
