Joanne Heydon

April 14, 1927 — October 13, 2019

Our precious Mother, Jo Heydon (Mom Heydon, Muttie, Ma, Joanne) passed away Sunday, October 13, at her home.
Mom was born April 14, 1927 to John and Agnes (Grace) Nau in Kansas City, Missouri. After high school at Southeast, she worked for Hall Brothers and TWA. She met Jim Heydon and they were married October 30,1948. Jim and Jo happily welcomed five children, four daughters and a son.
After raising her five children, Mom started a new career at UMKC where she retired as executive assistant to the Chancellor.
Mom was an active member of St. Thomas More Parish. She was still practicing yoga, participating in water aerobics and walking. But her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pat, husband Jim, great granddaughter Jasmine and her dogs Buzz and Babe.
Mom is survived by her five children; Kathleen Ehrlich (Peter); Susan White (Dennis); Nancy Hastings (Greg); Megan Hiatt (John); Brian Heydon (Denise); nine grandchildren, Jim and Kristin Cass; Becky Yarborough; Heydon and Taylor White; Haley and Gracie Hastings; Rachel Mulcahy; Tessa Hiatt; five great grandchildren, Erin Lalic, Ty, Cole and Noah Yarborough; Juliette White; Remy and Frankie White; and Jude Mulcahy.
She also leaves behind many dear friends.
Our mother lived independently until her passing. Her strong faith carried and sustained her throughout her life. Her legacy is her strong and loving family. Mom left us a note in her burial wishes that said: "My love for you is eternal. Continue to love each other and be there for each other."
Mom leaves us with a wealth of deep loving spirit. She was a loving mother to many and has left us all better because of her sweet and mighty essence.
