Jerre Ann Sardou

February 7, 1945 — November 30, 2022

Jerre Ann Laughlin Sardou, a loving mother and friend, passed away comfortably, surrounded by close family, in Kansas City, Missouri, November 30, 2022. Jerre was born February 7, 1945, in Wichita, KS to Gerald E. and Hazel Ann Laughlin. She attended All Saints Grade School and graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy High School in 1963. She attended Wichita State University and graduated in 1971 from Emporia State University.

Jerre married Mark Sardou while he was stationed in Böblingen, Germany, in 1966 and they had two children: Brian and Christopher. She would always say, “Our children are the light of our lives and very favorite gift from God.”

Initially, Jerre worked in libraries for seven years, beginning with the Boulevard Branch Library in Wichita, the Corinth Library in Prairie Village and the Kansas City Kansas Public Library. Her career then took her to Macy’s in Mission for 14 years where she worked as a floor supervisor and personnel assistant. She made lifelong friends during her time working there.

In 1987, Jerre joined the National Seminars Group (Rockhurst University Continuing Education Center) as the director of human resources and was later promoted to vice-president. She was a very strong role model to her children and grandchildren, and everyone who was blessed to have known her. She was a fierce woman who was not afraid to speak her heart even if it was not the easiest thing to say. However, she was always honest in her words and actions.

Jerre and Mark belong to the Church of the Nativity in Leawood. The priests and members of the church have been an anchor in their lives. She was blessed with being part of a DNA study group and the sponsor of a RCIA participant.

She appreciated her working associates greatly. She enjoyed a nicely prepared meal, short walks, and the great conversations and companionship of her friends. Some of her favorite and most cherished memories were times spent with her family and close friends. She had great love for her Catholic faith and her relationship with Jesus. She truly believed that God has humor, “Make plans and watch Him laugh.”

Jerre was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by husband Mark, brothers Michael (Cheryl) and Leo (Connie) Laughlin, sister Marian Hayes (John), children Brian (Amy) and Chris (Nida) Sardou, grandchildren Brittany Wainwright (Morghan), Jaclyn Marshall (Jeramey), Jaden Sanderson (Boston), Faith Sardou and great-grandchildren Jack and Owen Wainwright.
