Jerome "Jerry" R. McNamara, 67, died November 8th, 2017, at Carondelet Manor Nursing Home. Beloved son, brother, and uncle, Jerry was the youngest of the family of eight children, (Mom always liked him best). Jerry was born June 7, 1950 in Kansas City, MO, to Hugh F. (1908-1954) and Mary Teresa McNamara, nee Brennan (1907-2004), whom preceded him in death. He was a member of St. Thomas More Parish and a previous member of Our Lady of Good Counsel, St. Elizabeth, and St. Patrick.Ar dheis D go raibh a anam dilis. (May his faithful soul be at the right hand of God)Jerry dealt with Alzheimers (2013) and a mini stroke (2016) but always maintained his great attitude. Many thanks to the Staff at Carondelet Manor and Hospice Care for their care of Jerry.Jerry attended the Greater KC Foundation School and Work Shop, and the Grandview Work Shop for 36 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed family gatherings, wrestling, music, sports, family, friends, and the celebration of his birthday. He will always be remembered for the time he played basketball with former KU and Boston Celtic, Jo Jo White, at the Roanoke Community Center in the 1970s.Jerry was preceded in death by his devoted father, loving mother, and his eldest brother, Thomas G. McNamara (1933-2008), sister-in-law, Louwana McNamara, nee Shortino (1933-2016), niece, Janet McNamara, nee Danforth (1958-2001), niece Kristina McNamara, nee McPherson (1967-2017) and his Irish born grandparents, Thomas J. (1876-1931) and Anna McNamara, nee Dugan (1870-1930) and Thomas P. (1869-1947) and Margaret Brennan, nee Cunningham (1867-1924). Jerry is survived by his two fond sisters, Margaret (Late Edward, 1935-2010) Crimmins and Rita (Charles) Gromowsky, both of Overland Park ,KS, four loving brothers, Hugh (Joann) of Overland Park, KS, Michael (Mary), Robert, both of Kansas City, MO, and David of Leawood, KS, and 100 some caring nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.Services at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2 E. 75th St., KCMO. Visitation will be held Nov. 16, Thursday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. followed by luncheon in Church Hall. No flowers. Private family inurnment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
