Jeannine J. Foley, 97, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully at her home on September 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 26, 1929, in Freeport, Illinois.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whose life was marked by her love of family, her willingness to serve others, and her many creative talents.
She received her high school education and continued her studies at a comptometer school. She later enjoyed a long and rewarding career with the Kansas City Power and Light, where she worked for many years in the Central Files Department. Through her dedication and expertise, she eventually became a supervisor of the department. During her tenure, she was instrumental in introducing the use of microfilm, helping modernize the way information was preserved and accessed.
Outside of her career, she found great fulfillment in giving back to her community. She volunteered at St. Joseph Medical Center, serving on the sewing committee. Her commitment to volunteering was recognized when she and her husband were honored as Volunteers of the Year.
She had a creative and generous spirit and especially loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Her talents and the things she created were a reflection of the care and thoughtfulness she brought to those around her.
Some of her happiest memories were made celebrating holidays with family and friends. She also loved to travel and particularly enjoyed trips to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, where she appreciated the opportunity to experience new places and cultures.
Family and friends will remember her for the love she shared, her dedication to those around her, and the many ways she quietly made a difference in the lives of others. Her peaceful passing at home, surrounded by family, was a fitting reflection of the importance she placed on those she loved.
She is survived by her daughter, Patty Foley and son, Michael Foley; grandson, Joseph Foley and his wife, Annelise and great granddaughter, Carmella Lin and grandson, Mitchel Foley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester G. Rayhorn; her mother, Mildred I. Rayhorn; her husband, William G. Foley; and her daughter, Lin F. Thomas.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, creativity, and cherished memories that will remain with her family and friends for years to come.
