Jeanne Oswald Blanck (aka Nonnie) passed away peacefully on August 8, 2020, at home.
She was born to Estil and Mary Oswald on October 26, 1929, in Boonville, Missouri.
She married Bill Blanck on June 2, 1951. Jeanne and Bill started their married life in Wichita, Kansas and then Kansas City, Missouri. Bills work took them to Rapid City, South Dakota. They returned to Kansas City two years later, and it has been home since. She worked at Blanck and Lancey CPA firm until 7 years ago.
Growing up, Jeanne had a range of talents and passions. She became a skilled organ player and by the second grade was playing the organ at St. Martins School and Church near Pilot Grove, Missouri. She loved surprising attendees when they realized an 8-year-old was the organist. She played for weddings, funerals, and Catholic masses not only at St Martins as a child but also at many parishes in Kansas City throughout her life until her vision failed her. She was an avid basketball player in high school. She loved riding her horse, Topsy. She developed a lifelong deep admiration of Catholic nuns and her faith while attending boarding school from 1st grade through 8th grade at St. Martins School. She attended Boonville Catholic High School and Marymount College in Salina, Kansas.
She was very involved in the community, including the Ladies of Charity, Women of Visitation, PTO, and assisting with funeral meals for Visitation Parish. She was a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. She was caring and generous, always lending with helping hands, and sharing with an open heart.
Jeanne and Bill were lifelong Chiefs fans. In fact, Otis Taylor attended their 50th wedding anniversary with his Super Bowl ring, which Nonnie got to try on. They were so proud to have attended the first Chiefs Superbowl win and got https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0GX_zcx0sWPvWh7RQPjTnA . A celebration of Jeannes life will take place at a later date when it is safe for people to gather.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests a contribution be made to Visitation Parish, Rockhurst High School, St. Teresas Academy, or KC Hospice House. Contributions may be mailed to Muehlebach Funeral Care c/o Jeanne Blanck 6800 Troost Ave Kansas City, MO 64131.
