Jean Helene Davis, a long time resident of Kansas City, Missouri passed away the morning of April 4, 2023 after complications from an aortic dissection. Her passing at the early age of 69 yr was a complete surprise.
She was born in Valley Stream, New York September 18, 1953 to Lester H. Williams and Helen Jean Bartley-Partty. She grew up on the waters of NY and loved it. In her 20’s she would marry Brett Carlson Davis having one child, moved to Kansas City and divorce shortly thereafter.
While living in Kansas City she worked as an optical technician, worked for an attorney, and worked at UPS. Jean had 4 pets, all rescued animals, 3 dogs – Mariah, Rayne and Barrack and 1 cat - Kitty Kitty. She volunteered at various animal care programs over the years. She was a Master Gardner and enjoyed “playing in the dirt”. After retirement she was very active in the local catholic churches – St. Francis Xavier, St. Peter’s and Redemptorist, and the Ladies of Charity. Other activities she was extensively involved with included KC Heroes, Free Hot Soup Program and working with the homeless, and Journey to New Life Program. Jean was involved in local politics, looking out for the taxpayers and underdogs.
She leaves behind her daughter, grandsons, her long time and close friend Cecil Williams, and her fiancé Joseph G. Bauer.
Services will be at Redemptorist Church on Saturday May 6, 2023 with mass at 10:00 am and visitation starting at 9:30 am and Rosary will be lead by Ladies of Charity at 9:30 am. A short memorial service will be held at 3:45 pm Saturday May 6, 2023 at Washington Park, the site of Free Hot Soup Program.
Kjirstyn will be returning the ashes to New York later in May with a memorial with those in New York.
