Jane Kirkpatrick Laplante

Jane Kirkpatrick LaPlante, affectionately known as Nanie to her family and friends, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2019. Jane was the daughter of Mariana Wills Kirkpatrick and Voyle Vernell Kirkpatrick. She was born September 1, 1926 in Kansas City, Mo and raised there. She went to Border Star Elementary School, where she made lifelong friends and graduated from Southwest High School. She went on to study at Missouri University (MU), pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma, and loved every minute of life at MU. She returned to Kansas City and went to work at the downtown Rothschilds clothing store where she met Gilbert LaPlante. The two fell in love and were married on May 13, 1948. Her family was the most important thing in the world to her. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She encouraged, protected, and loved them all deeply. In turn, they all loved her with all their hearts and souls. Her love for life and her kind, gentle, strong spirit will live on in each of them. Thanks, Nanie, for a lifetime of love!
Jane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years Gilbert LaPlante and second husband John Rowe. She is survived by her 3 children, 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Children: Kirk LaPlante (Janet) of Phoenix, Arizona, Billy LaPlante of Salt Lake City, Utah and Janie Bailey (Bill) of Prairie Village, Kansas. Grandchildren: Kara Chase, Nick Kiviranta, Tom Bird, Tim Bird, Stephanie Daigle, Kirk LaPlante, Charlie LaPlante, James LaPlante, Jennifer Brooks, Jessica Randolph, Bill Youmans and Jacqui LaPlante and wonderful great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29th from 6:30 to 8 p.m. with the Rosary being said at 6:30 p.m., at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Avenue, KCMO. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, August 30th at St. Anns Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Rd, Prairie Village, KS 66208.
