Obituary

Jane Ann (Bowen) Bolte, age 90, of Prairie Village, Kansas died August 12, 2026 surrounded by family and friends. The only child of Hobart and Edythe Bowen, Jane Ann was born in Wichita, Kansas and moved to Kansas City, Missouri as a young child.

She formed lifelong friendships while attending the J.C. Nichols School and Southwest High School, later continuing her education at the University of Missouri – Columbia. There, she became a proud member of Gamma Phi Beta, an affiliation that remained central throughout her life. Jane Ann served the sorority as a board member, interior decorator and enthusiastic cheerleader.

Blessed with an extraordinary eye for color, Jane Ann earned the affectionate nickname “Rainbow” from her husband of 44 years, Carl Bolte. Her talent shaped a long career in interior decorating, including helping establish the interior decorating department at Surface Paint and Decorating and later working at Dalton Interiors. She brought beauty, harmony and personality to countless homes across the Kansas City area.

A devoted mother of three, grandmother of three and great grandmother of five, Jane Ann found great joy in spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her great-grandson, Joseph Falzone III. She is survived by her daughters Linda Egle Clarke (Tom), Carolyn Egle (Hugo Hauge) and Alison Egle Dudley (Randolph); grandchildren Joseph Falzone II, Elizabeth Dudley (Luke Hays) and Gretchen Dudley (Jacob Mitchell); and great-grandchildren Aria Falzone, Justin Falzone, Jax Falzone and Avani Falzone.

Jane Ann’s daughters extend heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Claridge Court and the KC End of Life Doula Network for their loving, gentle and compassionate care in her final days.

A celebration of life will be held from 3-6pm on Friday, November 6th at the Kansas City Country Club, 6200 Indian Lane, Mission Hills, KS. Please feel free to dress in bright colors in honor of Jane Ann’s impeccable eye for color.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to Gamma Phi Beta or the KC End of Life Doula Network.
