James Edward "Jimmy" Harris

March 6, 1953 — December 13, 2025

Kansas City, MO

Jimmy Harris, 72, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on December 13, 2025, surrounded by family.

Jimmy was born in Kansas City on March 6th of 1953 to Vince and Dorothy Harris. Family and friends were at the heart of everything Jimmy did. He was a devoted husband to Carol Harris, a proud father to Vince Harris, and a loving stepfather to Angela Katzer(Kurt), Vincent Rupp(Sarah), and Carrie Bairrington(Mark), as well as a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren. He is survived by five siblings, Maureen Liston(Denny), Phil Harris, Lynn Harris(Janie), John Harris(Jeanie), Jeanne Ritz, and a large loving family of Nieces and Nephews who meant the world to him.

Jimmy was raised in a large, close-knit family that remained deeply important to him until his final day. That upbringing shaped him into someone who valued loyalty, connection, and showing up for the people around him. He was known for his big personality, sharp humor, storytelling ability and being the life of the party. Jimmy brought energy wherever he went and had a way of making gatherings more memorable simply by being there.

An electrician by trade, Jimmy was dependable and capable, known for taking pride in his work and for helping others whenever he could. He was the person people called when something needed to be fixed or figured out, and he came through.

Music was a meaningful part of Jimmy’s life. He had a beautiful Irish tenor voice and led the family often in singalongs. A memorable episode every St. Patrick’s Day was Jimmy’s standout rendition of Danny Boy. He was invited to more weddings and funerals than the average parish priest so he could give his command performances.

Earlier this year, Jimmy was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. He faced his illness with determination, supported faithfully by Carol and Vince and surrounded by family, prayer, and long-standing friendships. His passing came far too quickly.

Jimmy lived fully and showed up consistently. He leaves behind a legacy of loyalty, dependability, and shared moments of laughter. He will be missed by all who knew him.
