Harold Ray Smith, age 85, of Raymore, MO. passed away on March 6th with his family by his side. Harold was born on March 19, 1936 to Arthur and Ethel (Hamline) Smith. He attended Benjamin Harrison Elementary and Northeast High School. Harold retired from Burlington Northern Railroad in 1998 with 35 years as a Refrigeration Mechanic.
Harold married Thelma Joan Boutross on June 21, 1958. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter. They were life long parishioners of St. Matthew Apostle Church of Kansas City, MO. After its closing in 2020 they started attending The Coronation of Our Lady Church in Grandview, MO.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Ronald E. Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Rayma Smith; sister, Dorothy Green; brother-in-law, John Evans; sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Ora Kerns, and infant great-granddaughter, Finley K. Smith.
Harold is survived by his wife of 63 years, Thelma; sons, Donald R. Smith and Fred (Kathy) Smith; and daughter, Joanie (Donnie) Kalwei. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Freddie (Stephanie) Smith, Kayla (Lathan) Landgren, Katie Smith, Frank Smith, Brent (Jessika) Kalwei, and Paige Kalwei; and 3 great grandchildren, Poppy, Jensen and Alfie Smith. His brothers Robert Smith, Richard (Debbie) Smith, and sisters Marilyn (Gary) McNally, Carolyn Evans, and Margaret Henness. Also, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Visitation will be held 2-3:30pm Sunday, March 13th at Coronation of Our Lady Church, 13000 Bennington Ave., Grandview, MO 64030, followed by a rosary at 3:30pm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 am Monday, March 14th at Coronation of Our Lady Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Childrens Mercy Hospital, Dept. of Philanthropy, 2401 Gillham Rd., Kansas City, MO 64108-9883 in memory of Finley K. Smith, or to Coronation of Our Lady Church.
