Guadalupe Coronado Lopez, 89, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026.

Lupe was born on February 11, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois to Juvencio and Josefina Coronado. The family relocated to Guadalajara, Mexico around 1940 before returning to Chicago in 1950. It was there she eventually met and married the love of her life, Carlos Lopez, in 1960. They started their young family in Chicago before moving to Kansas City, Kansas where they raised nine children.

Throughout her life, Lupe was profoundly devoted to her children and family. She was a loving mother, fierce advocate and protector, our greatest champion, trusted advisor, wise counselor, and the heart of every gathering. Her love, strength, and unwavering support shaped the lives of all who knew her. We could never get enough of her, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void.

Lupe was a devout Catholic and over the years actively volunteered at her parish as a eucharistic minister, greeter, gathering collections, serving at the Food Kitchen, and helping at church functions. She was active in supporting the catholic schools where her children attended through the PTO and School of Religion. She had a deep devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and recited the Rosary daily.

Lupe was a beautiful woman who took great pride her personal appearance. She loved doing her make-up, getting dressed, and looking her best each day. We affectionately called her our “beauty queen,” as she could often be found shopping with her daughters, getting her nails painted, and having her hair done. Lupe also loved collecting jewelry and could often be found organizing her multiple jewelry chests.

Before her husband passed away, Lupe enjoyed traveling with Carlos, going to the movies, eating out, and walking in their neighborhood. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Lupe was an excellent cook and delighted in making recipes she knew they all loved - it was her love language. She also enjoyed playing board games and watching her telenovelas and soap operas.

Lupe never met a stranger and delighted in working as a sales associate in several clothing stores over the years. She called it her “vacation” away from managing the busy household that was waiting for her at home.

We find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in paradise with her husband and daughter, carrying with her the joy, warmth, and vibrant spirit that defined her life. We know she will continue to watch over and guide us. Her legacy lives on in her family, and her love will remain with us always."

Lupe was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlos, her daughter Yolanda, and brothers Frank (Linda), Manuel (Margie), and Peter (Evelia). She is survived by her children, Carlos Jr. (Irene), Lorenzo (Melissa), Lupe Clouse (Greg), Jorge, Josephine Sitek, Rose Shaw (John), Robert (Janine), and Louis (Bryan); 22 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister Carmen Verdad, as well as many nieces, nephews, and numerous loving relatives.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Senior Helpers, Interim Hospice, and Sisters Servants of Mary for providing compassionate care in her final days.
