Gregory Reed Scott

September 2, 1955 — January 4, 2018

Gregory Reed Scott, 62, passed away January 4, 2018 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, KS after a five- year battle with Alzheimers. He was born on September 2, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to Gaylord and Ryle Scott. Greg graduated from Ruskin High school in 1973. He worked over 20 years in industrial sales.
On September 26, 1992, Greg was united in marriage to the love of his life, Sue Wagner in Olathe, KS. They were married for 25 years and had one son, Austin Reed Scott. They made their home in Olathe, KS.
Greg had many friends and remained close to many of his high school classmates until his death. He enjoyed Kansas City sporting events and was a season ticket holder to the Kansas City Chiefs for many years. He loved spending time tailgating with his friends, cheering for the Missouri Tigers, Kansas City Royals and with great pride, watching his son play golf.
Greg was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers in 2012. He faced the disease with amazing optimism and courage. He was determined not to allow the disease to impact his humility and relationships. In the final 2 years of his life, the disease began to take its toll. Even as the impacts began to appear Greg was able to reside in his home until nine months before his death.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Scott; son Austin Scott; mother, Ryle Wischmeier (Pete); sister, Shawn Ismert (Bill); brother, Troy Scott; mother-in-law, Betty Wagner; sister-in-law, Melinda Morton (Paul) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his father, Gaylord Scott; father-in-law, George B. Wagner and brother, Mark Scott.
The family would like to thank all our friends for their prayers and support during this difficult time.
Services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2:30pm. Church of the Resurrection in the Wesley Chapel 13720 Roe Avenue Leawood, KS. 66224.
