Gregory Buchholz

Greg Buchholz, passed away in Overland Park, Kansas on May 21, 2023. He was born on December 9th, 1955 at the Georgetown Hospital in Washington, D.C. to James Buchholz and Oma Rose (Short) Buchholz.

Greg attended St. Peter's grade school, Rockhurst High School and Rockhurst College before earning his PhD in Economics from the University of Notre Dame. He was an Eagle Scout and an avid jazz fan.

Greg was a kind-hearted person who devoted his life to education. He was fluent in Spanish and taught economics in Ecuador, at the University of Kansas as a visiting professor and at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Greg is preceded in death by his father James Buchholz and sister Sophronia Buchholz. He is survived by his mother Oma Rose Buchholz. A private service will be held for Greg. A public Mass at Cure of Ars will follow on a date to be determined to honor Greg and his Rockhurst classmates who have passed on. The family would like to say a special “thank you” to Father Richard Story, who answered the call and was with Greg in his final moments.
