Gloria Marie Atchity was born December 28, 1942, in Kansas City, MO and joined her parents and brothers in heaven on March 19th after a long illness. She was the daughter of Anthony and Carolyn Atchity. She was the youngest of four children. Passing before her were her parents and brothers Anthony Atchity, Jr. and Robert Atchity. She has a sister, Sister Carol Atchity, of the Blessed Virgin Mary order, still living in Springfield, MO. Memories of Gloria bring joy to her living sister. She was six years younger ands there were many joy-filled memories as they went to movies and ate out and played games…she was like a shadow to Carol.
Gloria entered the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary for three years. Gloria had several positions in the workplace in Kansas City including as a secretary for an insurance company and working at a cafeteria. Gloria spent most of her life in a Kansas City residential home and was a strong faithful friend to many. She was a very spiritual person and prayer was her stronghold as she always wanted to do God’s will…Gloria was a positive person, and her favorite saying was: “Everything is going to be alright.” She loved music, especially the Bee Gees and loved to dance. Gloria blessed many people and gave them hope. It was very easy for people to love her because of her kindness and care.
She died on March 19th, two years after her brother Bob who died on the same date, St. Joseph’s feast day. It was all in God’s plan. WE praise God for Gloria’s life and for her joy and peace now in the freedom of God’s gracious arms.
