Geraldine Myers Macy passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Hospice House on January 7th, 2023 after a long illness.
Gerry was born in Meadville, Missouri in the family farmhouse to Arthur and Edra Myers. She attended Meadville schools and, after a near fatal car accident, still graduated in 1951. That Fall, she went to live in Los Angeles, California with family. While there, she trained as a dental assistant. Gerry moved back to Kansas City in 1953 and worked as a dental assistant on the Plaza for twelve years. In 1965, Gerry took a position teaching dental assisting at Carver Academy which led to assisting in writing textbooks. In 1970, she joined a dental practice as an office manager/bookkeeper. Then, in 1980, she joined a government agency associated with Medicare and worked for them as an office manager/bookkeeper until 1985.
Gerry was a gourmet cook, the kitchen was always FULL of spices and all kinds of pots and pans (in many shapes and sizes). Her other passion was her yard. Gerry was a truly gifted ‘green thumb’ and had the ability to grow anything. She loved all her plants, and would often speak to them softly, as to encourage them to grow and care for them daily.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, her four brothers; JC Myers, Jack Myers, RC Myers, and Blair Myers; and her stepson; Jonathan Macy. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband; Arthur, her stepson Arthur Jr., and many nieces and nephews.
