Always happy to work with others, perhaps her lasting legacy is the strengths she brought out in those around her both as a leading organizer and behind the scenes supporter. Her giving spirit made her a friend to many and an enemy of none. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John S. Gerling.
