George Richard Dunlap

George R. Dunlap, age 90, of Belton, Missouri, passed away in his sleep Saturday, August 19th. Visitation will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, August 24th at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64131. Service will follow at 11:00am. Burial at Resurrection Cemetery with a military service in honor of George.George was born on May 23rd, 1927 in Chariton, Iowa, to George and Jessie (Evans) Dunlap. He graduated from Corydon High School in 1945.Service is defined as the action of helping or doing work for someone else; from 1945-1979, George spent 34 years doing just that. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, and in 1951, George then joined, again, this time in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. His faithful service continued on, serving 25 years on the Kansas City Missouri Police Department. This past May, he was recognized on the floor of the United States Congress for his years of service.George is survived by his wife of 25 years, Carol Dunlap of Belton, Missouri; daughter, Vera Richards of Charlotte, North Carolina; and son, Mark Dunlap of Cumming, Georgia. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Sam Dunlap of St Joseph, Missouri and Chester Dunlap of California, along with his sister, Emma Pearson, of Carriere. Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 32 years, Rosemary Dunlap of Gladstone, Missouri; son, Dennis Dunlap of Arden, North Carolina, along with his brothers, James and Carl.In Lieu of Flowers, please send donations to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
