Gary Lee Summerskill, 82, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away February 18th surrounded by his beloved family. A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday, February 29th at RCs Bar and Grill (330 East 135th Street, KC, MO 64145) honoring his liking of libation, good food and great company.
Gary was born on September 28, 1937 and adopted by Joseph and Margaret Summerskill. After high school he attended trade school and started one of several businesses with his father that he would continue to nurture for many years including Summerskill Tow. Gary greatly enjoyed cards, dominos, Johnny Cash, John Wayne, Bluegrass and his pets which were like family.
It was in Kansas City that he met the love of his life, Elva Medlin. They were married on January 2, 1965 and raised two beautiful daughters Linda Janelle and Lesley Jo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, best friend Bob ("Bro") and close family friend, Jean Mayhew. He is survived by his wife Elva and their two children, daughters Linda Phillips and Lesley Summerskill; four grandchildren, Ashley MacMillan and husband Joe MacMillan, Kyle LeRoy and girlfriend Jordan Patterson, Alena McClary and husband Jon McClary and Cameron Phillips; 3 great-grandchildren (with one on the way), Ryder MacMillan, Henry MacMillan, Hudson McClary and Warren McClary.
