Fredric Robert Young died November 13, 2023, in Lawrence, Kansas.
He was an accountant, a savings and loan officer and an abstracter of titles. He was born in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Donald P. Young, Sr. and Louise (Broeker) Young. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he worked for Arthur Young & Co., C.P.A.s. He lived most of his life in Dodge City, Kansas, where he was President of The Ford County Building and Loan Association and Vice President of Dodge City Abstract and Investment Company.
On May 1, 1965, he married Alberta Marie Timm in Kansas City, Missouri. Together they designed and built their home in Dodge City, KS. He is survived by his daughter Elizabeth and grandson, Alexander, both of Boxford, Massachusetts, and his son Robert and Brenda of Lawrence, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his wife Alberta.
He served on the board of directors of Dodge City Abstract and Investment Company, Ford County Building and Loan Association, First National Bank in Dodge City, Frontier Federal Savings and Loan Association, the Junior and Senior Chambers of Commerce of Dodge City, Boot Hill Museum, Inc., Dodge City Historical Landmark Commission, Dodge City Urban Renewal Agency, Salvation Army of Dodge City and Dodge City Public Library. Kansas Governors Anderson and Bennett twice appointed him to the Governor’s State Library Advisory Commission. He authored two books, Dodge City, Up Through a Century in Story & Pictures and The Delectable Burg. His favorite pastime was writing and reading about Dodge City’s early history.
Funeral arrangements are in charge of Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave, Kansas City, Missouri on December 2nd at 11am. Graveside services will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri on December 2nd at 1pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Trinity Anglican Church, 3920 W. 63rd Street, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208, or a charity of one’s choice in care of the funeral home.
