Forrest Wayne Bucher

Forrest Wayne Bucher, 71, of Olathe, KS passed away on December 5, 2020. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10 from 10 11 am followed by the funeral service at 11 am at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., KCMO. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Forrest was born, September 14, 1949, in Chillicothe, MO. He grew up in the Westport area of Kansas City. He served his country in Vietnam as a U.S. Marine. After returning from the war, he attended the University of Missouri Kansas City. Before starting his career in the grocery business, he found his love of yardwork by working for his father-in-laws family business, Grays Lawn Service. He then started in the grocery business opening his first store in the mid 70s at 40th and Holmes. He would go on to open Forrest United Super in Kansas City, KS. After selling those stores, he opened the first Checkers Grocery in Winfield, KS. After his career in the grocery business, Forrest worked for the IRS for over 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion and also enjoyed politics, traveling, working in the yard. He lived his life to fullest in the way he wanted. Forrest was a one of a kind guy who never met a stranger. Everyone who he met could not help but love him. He touched so many people throughout his life. He will be missed by his family, numerous neighbors, co-workers and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother, Louis and James Bucher. He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Bucher, ex-wife, Sandra Bucher, nephew, Dan and wife Nicole Bucher, and great niece and nephew, Josh Bucher and Leah Shimmens.
