Elizabeth R. Gotschall

June 13, 1929 — December 6, 2018

On Thursday, December 6, 2018, Elizabeth (Bettye) R. Gotschall, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother passed away at the age of 89.
A native of Kansas City, Bettye attended St. Frances Xavier Grade School and graduated from Hogan High School in 1947.
Bettye was a woman of deep faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christs love and the beauty and peace that would await her after her passing. She was an avid parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church since its founding in 1965.
She had a passion for serving her local community, especially the elderly, which translated into years of volunteer service at Holmesdale and Timberlake Care Centers, where she was affectionately known as Tuesday Bettye.
She lived a full and complete life with many blessings for which we are thankful. Above all, her proudest accomplishment was her family. Bettye was predeceased by her spouse Leo C. Gotschall, her parents, Ruth C. and Neal A. Ferguson, her sisters Martha Frey, Ellen Jane Quinn and Margaret Bain, her brother, Thomas C. Ferguson, and her granddaughter, Julia Matz. Bettye is survived by her son Charles Gotschall (Cindi) her daughters, Ruth Ann Matz (Tim), Jane Coelho, and Rita Oltjen (Jay), and her brother, William Ferguson in Texas.
She was a loving Mamre to Matthew, JJ, Grant and Charles Gotschall; Marie and Theodore Matz; Elliott and Philip Coelho; and William, Elizabeth and Jane Oltjen.
The Rosary and visitation will be held on Monday, December 10th at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her life at 11 a.m. Entombment will be held in the Faith Mausoleum at Mount Moriah Cemetery.
