Edward W. Burgess, 87, died April 5, 2020 at John Knox Respite Center. He was born on November 2, 1932 in Newark, NJ to Edward T. and Florence E. (Lavery) Burgess. He had a sister, Florence E. (Sis) Burgess.They moved to Kansas City where he attended Southeast High School and was a member of the football team. After graduation he enlisted into the US Navy. He was stationed on the HENRICO during the Korean War. Upon returning to the states he met Charlotte Farrar. They married and had three sons, two which preceded him in death.They moved to Grandview, MO where he was a member of the Grandview United Methodist Church.He was a delivery truck driver by trade. He was employed by Deluxe Cleaners, Williams Meat Company, Amour-Swift Packing Company and the US Postal Service from which he retired in 1992.He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, and his sons Timothy (in infancy) and Bill Burgess. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Charlotte Burgess and Son Steve (Mary Lou) Burgess, Grandchildren Beth (Brandon) King and Christopher Burgess. He has one Great-grandson.Will be missed by everyone who knew him. Especially his stories.
