Edward Eugene O'Laughlin

Edward E. "Gus", "Gene" OLaughlin, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, 92, of Kansas City, MO,
passed away on November 24, 2017. The Rosary will be prayed Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 4:00 pm followed by visitation until 6:00 pm at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, November 27, 2017 at 9:30 am, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8510 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64114.

Gene was born on August 5, 1925, the son of Edward M. OLaughlin and Marie F. (McDonald) OLaughlin. Born and raised in Kansas City, MO. He attended Ruhl Elementary and Ruhl Hartman High School. Gene joined the Navy in June 1943 and was honorably discharged in March 1946. He was a Grain Merchandiser for the Department of Agriculture, where he retired after 25 years.
Gene and his wife, Beverly were married at Christ the King Church. They also attended St. Augustine Parish while raising their eight children. In 1975, they re-joined the Christ the King Parish where Gene was a parishioner before he passed.
Genes main priority was providing for and taking care of his children until the end. He was one of the most honest man you would ever meet. His spirit was full of humor, fun and generosity. Gene O enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved to socialize and "debate" with his children and his many friends from childhood, high school and the government. Gene and Beverly loved to travel the US and Europe with dear friends. Gene O loved his bowling and golf outings and the monthly family/friends picnics. The annual family vacations he planned will be imbedded in our memories forever
He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, his Mother in Law, Josephine Goins, his brother, Tommy OLaughlin, his sister Rita Smeaton, and his son in law, Grant Grinham. He is survived by all eight of his children: Cheryl Sykes, Susan Richards, Mark OLaughlin, Diane OLaughlin, Teresa Jo OLaughlin, Denise Grinham, Scott OLaughlin and Lisa OLaughlin; ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Dad, our Father, watch over us all from Heaven. You will be missed but never forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Foundation Workshop-JobOne (12600 3rd St. Grandview, MO.) or KC Hospice House (12000 Wornall Rd. KCMO).
