Interment following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Ed was born in Oak Park, Illinois on November 27, 1940 to his parents, Benjamin F. Batcheler and Helen E. (Dutton) Batcheler and older sister Joan who loved to spoil her Butch. As a youth Ed enjoyed the outdoors through hunting and fishing with his father and through activities with his Boy Scout Troop. He inherited his parents green thumb for gardening and the skills required for preserving his produce. This led him to an education in food technology. He graduated from Texas A&M with his Food Technology degree and in time found himself in Fort Smith, Arkansas working for Gerber Baby foods and serving in the National Guard at Fort Chaffee. There in Fort Smith, he met Linda Gramlich, who initially (because of his youthful appearance) thought he was the paper boy when he had come to visit her room-mate. A little time passed and they began dating, Ed gained the approval of Lindas brothers and they were married October 20th of 1969. After a transfer with Gerber to the San Francisco Bay area in California, Ed and Linda welcomed to the world their daughter Elizabeth, and later a son Joseph. After another transfer with Gerber to Reedsburg, Wisconsin to a plastics manufacturing plant, Ed and Linda welcomed another son, Mark. Ed enjoyed taking his family outdoors for fishing, gardening, scouting activities and for hiking and blackberry picking trips to the woods. In time, Ed left Gerber and continued his career in plastics manufacture with firms in the Kansas City, Missouri area where all these pass-times continued. In their retirement years, Ed and Linda found themselves joining the St Regis 8:15ers for daily Mass and Wednesday breakfasts. Ed joined the Knights of Columbus and found his duty in picking up food being removed from area grocers shelves and delivering it to the local food pantry. This, along-side travel, visiting family, exercising at the YMCA and gardening enriched Ed and Lindas lives. In 2008 Ed and Linda became grandparents and the joys of young children again filled their lives. These past few years, Eds health slowly decline as he fought cancer. His faith, family, and friends helped he and Linda through these tough times, and we appreciate the help received in these recent days. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Helen, and his sister, Joan Mayer. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Linda Batcheler; daughter Elizabeth L. Divis (Tracy); son Joseph E. Batcheler (January); son Mark B. Batcheler; grandchildren Madison, Tyler and Reagan Divis, and Benjamin Batcheler; brother-in-law Joe Mayer; nephew Steve Mayer (Lisa); brother-in-law Rudy Gramlich; nieces Dorothy Horn (Waylon), Sandy Gramlich, and Catherine Baltz (John); nephews Rick (Tammy), Arthur (Pam), and Nick (Joan) Gramlich; as well as many dear friends.
