Dorothy June Campbell

April 7, 1928 — May 11, 2019

Dorothy June (Wilper) Campbell, age 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, May 11, 2019. All services for Dorothy will be held at her long-time parish (of over 50 years) St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri 64116, on Thursday, May 16th. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the Rosary prayed at 10:30 a.m., and Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 a.m. Interment held immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery (North).
Dorothy was born on April 7, 1928 in Westphalia, Kansas, to her parents, Leonard and Emma Wilper. She was the oldest of three children, having one brother and one sister. Dorothy moved to Kansas City in her youth, where her grandmother opened a boarding house. At that boarding house she met a soldier staying there on leave from his service in the Army during WWII, named William T. Campbell. Dorothy and William exchanged letters for the rest of his time in the Army, and married shortly after his service ended.
Her Catholic faith and the love she had for her family is what Dorothy will forever be remembered for. As well as her famous home-cooked meals and made-from-scratch baked goodies, her intricate ceramic figurines, her love of nature and gardening, and her unwavering support of the KC Royals. Through her church, Dorothy enjoyed participating in the Altar and Rosary Society, The Hibernian Society, and Our Lady of Mary Auxiliary. She also volunteered her time sewing baptismal gowns for babies that passed away at Children's Mercy Hospital. Dorothys generous, selfless and loving spirit will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Emma; her brother Harold Wilper; and her loving husband of nearly 40 years, William T. Campbell. Dorothy is survived by her son, Bill Campbell and wife Connie; daughter Janet Cason; grandchildren Jennifer Larsen, Chris Campbell, Emily Cason, and Jessica Jobe; five beloved great grandchildren; along with many dear church friends and family.
The family suggests memorial contributions go to St. Patrick Catholic Church in honor of Dorothy.
