Dorothy Jean Melenson

Dorothy Jean Melenson, 90, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home January 10, 2018 surrounded by family. Dorothy was born March 10, 1927, in Kansas City, KS, the daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret Denk. Dorothy was a devoted wife to her late husband Oliver E. Melenson. Dorothy was a wonderful and loving mother and grandmother to her 7 children, her 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.Dorothy loved doing word searches and puzzle books. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting and loved flowers and making flower arrangements. She also loved to cook and always made sure everyone was well fed. Anyone who knew Dorothy knew that she loved her family with a passion. Dorothy devoted much of her time and energy as a caregiver to her family members specifically her grandchildren as they were growing up. Dorothy is survived by her seven children, daughter Linda Anderson and husband Joe; son Greg Melenson; daughter Donna Vermillion; daughter Cindy Adams and husband Ron; daughter Mary Brown and husband Rick; son Ronnie Melenson; and son Terry Melenson and wife Sue; ten grandchildren Nikki, Carl (CJ), Kimberly, Justin, Alan, Katie, Michael, Brad, Stefanie, and Eric; and fourteen great grandchildren Austin, Ethan, Haley, Carl, Piper, Gabby, Jackson, Eleanora, Brody, Lilliana, Logan, Josie, Taylor, and Jessie.Visitation will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO 64131, Sunday, January 14th from 2-4 PM, with Rosary at 2 PM.Funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8510 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64114, Monday, January 15th at 9:30 AM with burial following at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge, Kansas City, MO 64138. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Asana Hospice, 9001 State Line Rd. Ste. 120, KCMO 64114.
