Dorothea "Doorie" A. Phillips, 71, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Thursday, August 26, 2021.She is survived by her brother, David Phillips and wife Sandy, nephews and nieces Chris Wallace (Cathy), Brenda Wallace, Nicki Wallace Ehler (Steve), Tony Phillips (Erin), Dustin Phillips (Jamie), along with numerous cousins, and great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents Anthony Phillips, Frances Phillips and her sister and best friend Mary Wallace.Doorie was very proud of the many years she worked for FEMA, traveling to disaster sites to help those in need.Doorie had a kind heart, wanting to take in any stray animals that she found and give them a good home, along with any living person who needed shelter.A special thanks to Sharon Cumberland and Carol Schmacher, who were Doorie's close friends, helping her in her time of need, and Lisa Ruskanen, Doorie's neighbor, who took in her beloved dog JoJo.Memorial services will be held at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Avenue, Kansas City, MO. 64131 on Wednesday, September 15th at 3:00 p.m.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doorie's honor to the KC Pet Project, 7707 Elmwood Ave., K.C., MO. 64132 or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd., K.C., MO. 64137*Masks mandatory
