Donald Anthony Accurso

Donald Anthony Accurso, 92, of Leawood, KS, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Overland Park Reginal Medical Center.
Don was born on February 23, 1926 in Kansas City, MO to Jack Accurso and Fern Etherton Accurso. He graduated from Central High School and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific for two years. In 2013, he was fortunate to be able to attend the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. It was one trip he always told everyone about.
Don was the leader of his high school dance band, and started his own band when he returned home from the Navy in 1946. The Don Accurso and His Orchestra play the "Big Band Sounds of the 40s" and the band will continue to play on.
Don was a real estate agent and broker since 1958. He was awarded Million Dollar Round Table status. In November 2010, he was named Realtor Emeritus by the National Board of Realtors. For several years, he had his own real estate company.
Don is survived by his wife of 71 years, Norine Pauletic Accurso; their two daughters, Linda Dotson and Kim Wheeler (Scott). He has two grandsons, Kevin Bunting (Kimberly) and Burke Wheeler; a granddaughter, Reese Wheeler and two great grandchildren, Kadelyn and Camden Bunting. He also leaves a brother, Jack Accurso of Lees Summit, MO, 6 nephews and 3 nieces.
Visitation will be at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 11430 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO on Tuesday, October 30 at from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by funeral services at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, 9501 W 159 St., Overland Park, KS. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the Villas of Leawood Clubhouse, 2021 W 139 St after the burial from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.MuehlebachChapel.com.
