Diane Mae Youker, born May 14, 1951, passed away in the early morning hours of September 14, 2025. She was 74 years old. She grew up and spent her early years in Marshalltown, Iowa. She is survived by her brother, Mark Youker of Chanhassen, MN, and his wife, Janette. They have two sons, John and Tim. Her parents, Merle and Helen Youker, preceded her in death.
Diane graduated from Iowa State University in 1973 with a degree in fashion design. She left Iowa for Kansas City, where she worked in the fashion industry for Jim Jacobs, Mendells, and Gay Gibson. She later married Gilbert Snedden in 1979; they divorced in 1982. No children were born of this marriage.
In 1982, Diane changed careers and became a letter carrier for the USPS, a position she held for 32 years before retiring in 2014.
Diane loved good food and enjoyed reading restaurant reviews. Caddyshack Pizza was a favorite of hers. Diane was fond of the arts, old movies + movie stars, royalty, and family. She enjoyed visiting with family and vacationing with them.
She endured numerous strokes, both during her working years and into retirement. This past year was no exception, as she suffered a severe stroke on April 14. She fought hard and was able to return to her home of 40 years to live out her life. During this time, she was surrounded by many friends who provided care and comfort.
There will be no public funeral arrangements; a private memorial is being planned. Please hold kind thoughts toward others, as Diane was that type of person—always kind to people and animals alike.
