David Eric Christianson

David Eric Christianson, 66, of Lees Summit, Missouri, died July 20, 2020.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 17, 1954. David is preceded in death by both of his parents Eric V. Christianson, Jr. and Lois Odneal Christianson. He is survived by wife, Carolyn, children Joshua, Elizabeth Oxley, and Sean; grandchildren Michaela and Gabriel. He is also survived by his brother Reed Thomas "Tom" Christianson and his wife Kay, sister-in-law Elizabeth Smith and her husband Kevin, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
David graduated from Ruskin High School in 1973. While in high school, he was a member of the drumline in the marching band, developing a love of music which he used during his 11 years in music ministry at Coronation of Our Lady.
Beginning with Cub Scouts as a child, David enjoyed Boy Scouts throughout his life. He attained the rank of Eagle in 1968. Later both of his sons also earned their Eagle Scout rank. He served in many capacities including Committee Chair for Pack 4054 and Troop 1054 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church and many leadership positions with various packs, troops and crews during his 35 year involvement. He received the District Award of Merit and the Catholic Committee on Scouting awarded him the Bronze Pelican and St. George Emblems for his exceptional service to Catholic Scouting. For many scouts, David was known as "Chief Akela" during the cross-over ceremony from Cub Scout Webelos to Boy Scouts. He was also a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and Davids tribal name was "Little Distant Scarlet Setting Sun."
David was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 8334, at Holy Spirit. He was a 4th Degree Knight and a member of the Honor Guard.
David began his career in Information Technology at Kansas City Life. Some highlights of his career included working for KU Medical Center, House of Lloyd, H & R Block, and ending his career at Cerner Corporation.
Visitation will be held 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lees Summit, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Olivet in Raytown, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Davids memory can be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Boy Scout Troop # 1054 or the charity of your choosing.
