Constance T. Dougherty

January 18, 1937 — December 4, 2019

Constance "Connie" T. Dougherty, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Dec. 4, 2019. Visitation will be held at 10:00am Wed. Dec. 11 at St. Elizabeth Church, 2 W. 75th St., KCMO followed by Mass at 11:00 AM. Private interment.
Connie was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1937 to Charles and Adele Barnett. As a child, Connie once described herself as the kid who was always getting in trouble at family functions for being too loud and wild. Her energy continued with her as an adult. She brought joy to everyone around her with her contagious smile and laughter. And her loud voice ended up being a precious gift - the most beautiful singing voice. Connie was a long-time member of St Elizabeths Catholic Church, where she participated in the choir for many years.
In addition to her love for her family and God, Connie was a huge lover of animals. Her pets were spoiled with an abundance of treats and toys, which is probably why a few strays also made their way to Connie and Johns house over the years. Perhaps one of Connies greatest gifts in life was empathy. She loved serving others humans and furry friends.
Connie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, John Dougherty, her son Christopher and grandson, Steven Dougherty. She is survived by her children; John Dougherty, Michael Dougherty, Teresa Wright (James), Tim Dougherty (Jo Ann), Tom Dougherty and Jim Dougherty. Constance also leaves 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
