Christina 'Christy' Bea Deines Purcell

Christina "Christy" Bea Deines Purcell, the light and inspiration of so many people, passed away November 20, 2016. She was born in WaKeeney, Kansas on November 29, 1986. She was an energetic confident, accepting, and wonderful part of everyone she came in contact with. She started her journey, the daughter of Dennis Deines and Christina Waldschmidt Deines, on a farm near Trego Center, Kansas, God's Country. She was involved in the family farm, herding cattle, chasing chickens, raising pigs, picking beans and squash, which lead to her success in 4-H. She was her mother's right hand in the kitchen, quickly learning the ins and outs of a Pampered Chef and cookie business.
Christy went to WaKeeney Grade School where she was an athlete, scholar, and leader at a young age, leading her to admittance at Saint Thomas More Prep Marian High School. Earning a scholarship to Rockhurst University, she continued to grow and mature as a leader, student, and friend. She was a leader in her sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha, and a martial arts instructor (earning multiple world titles including the title of beating her older brother, Paul Deines). She graduated with honors with a Bachelor's in Finance and Accounting and a Master's in Business Administration.
Christy loved playing volleyball and attending Chiefs games and that led her to meeting the love of her life James "Jim" Joseph Purcell. They fell in love and were married in Cancun, Mexico on June 6, 2014. Not long after, they had a son, Jameson John, the culmination of her life and love, on May 29, 2015, who now carries her charm and personality. Not long after she was diagnosed with brain cancer that would take her life but never take her soul and energy, which will carry on in all who met and knew her. Christy is and will continue to be an inspiration to all. Her spirit lives on and will always be there for those who need a fighter and lover of whom Christy embodied so well.
She is survived by her husband Jim and their son Jameson; Her mother Christina "Tina" Waldschmidt Deines, father Dennis Deines and brother Paul Deines; multiple nephews and niece.
A visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 from 6:00 7:30 p.m. at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26 at United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Ave., Leawood, KS.
