Charles L. Schorgl Sr.

November 29, 1937 — May 15, 2021

Charles L. Schorgl, Sr., passed away on May 15, 2021, at the age of 83. Born in Kansas City in 1937, Chuck was the youngest child of Francis A. Schorgl and Marie (Dehner) Schorgl. He attended St. Francis Grade School, Rockhurst High School, and Rockhurst University. After completing his education, Chuck joined the family business, Pay-Less Grocery Stores, and later helped his son establish ONeills Restaurant. He also served eight years in the Missouri National Guard. A great lover of sports, Chuck was known for his athletic talent and memorable antics on the tennis court, where he played (and won) into his eighties. Chuck leaves in sorrow a loving family who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank Schorgl, and sister Teresa Powell. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Tobin) Schorgl; sister, Mary Wilson; sons Charlie, Jim, Kevin and Brian and their wives; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the nurses at Claridge Court, especially Amanda, St. Lukes Hospital, and Kindred Hospice for their loving care. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 19 at 10:00 AM at Visitation Church, 5142 Main St. Gifts in his honor can be made to Rockhurst High School, 9301 State Line Rd. Kansas City, MO.
