Charles L. Raab, 67, of Independence, MO, passed away November 14, 2018. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00pm, with Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 6:00pm on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Nativity of Mary Parish, 10017 E 36th Terr S. Independence, MO 64052.Charles was born November 2nd, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, to Lawrence and Julitta Raab. They lived in Kansas City, MO, until 1964 when the family made the move to Independence, MO. Charles started his 7th Grade year at Nativity school from there he went to Archbishop OHara High School graduating with the class of 1970. He then made the journey to the University of Missouri Rolla where he received a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree 1974, and then earned a Masters degree in Civil Engineering in 1979. He started his engineering career with the City of Kansas City, MO, in 1972 as an intern becoming full time in 1975 and retiring in June 2005. He started working for Trekk Design group in 2005 retiring in July 2018. Charles was a part of many associations and committees; Missouri Water Environment, Golden Manhole Society, past chairman of Collection System Committee, and Water Environment Association. He was also part of Boy Scout Troop 421 and a Do-Dad for his daughters Campfire Group. He was an avid Star Trek fan or "Trekkie." Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Julitta Raab and his wife, Nancy Miller-Raab (2003). He is survived by his 4 children, 1 stepson and 9 grandchildren: Patrick (Margaret) Raab of Grandview, MO, Valerie (Ryan) Scarborough of Kansas City, MO, Lisa (Dale) Jackson of Harrisonville, MO, Michael (Shawna) Raab of Lake Lotawana, MO; Brendan Lynch of Lawrence, KS, Alexis, Austin, Caitlin Raab of Grandview, MO, Haley and Sophie Scarborough of Kansas City, MO, Madeline and Peyton Jackson of Harrisonville, MO, Charlotte and Nolan Raab of Lake Lotawana, MO.
